breeding RULES

A. General rules

1. Breeder obligations - official kennel registration (FCI) and Breeder’s Contract The Estonian St. Bernard Dog Breeding Club
2. Shorthair and longhair St.Bernard dog mix breeding is by FCI regulations (FCI, No. 16 (10.09.1975.) and by Schweizerische St.Bernhards-Club recommendations.
3. Breeding dog has to satisfy/conform FCI standard nr.61
4. Obligatory “Körung” by rules of St.Bernhard -Klub e.V. (Germany) or Schweizerische St.Bernhards-Club( incl. special temperament tests  by Switzerland's rules: special judge (Wesenrichter) with special licens from SKG), with Certificate “Breeding Dog”. It is possible to accept other club’s breeding controls
5. No inbreeding allowed:
· Mother + son
· Father + daughter
· Brother + sister

B. General Breeding rules

6. The St. Bernard must have certificate “Breeding Dog” (art.4)
6.1. allowed HD-A, HD-B, HD-C, ED-0, ED-I.
6.2. dog with HD-C have to choose opposite sex with HD-A or HD-B
6.3. dog with ED-II have to choose opposite sex with ED-0 or ED-I
7. Breeding Committee can make exceptions (after traumas e.g.)

C. Rules for Males, Females:

8.1.Females
8.1.1. breeding after the 23rd month up to 8 years
8.1.2. pause between births is minimum 12 month
8.1.3. after the second caesarean operation the female is not suitable for breeding
8.1.4. females who reject their litter twice are not suitable for breeding
8.1.5. a imported pregnant bitch (by the rules of FCI) is not obligated to follow breeding rules and the litter will enter Estonian Kennel Union, EKL, (if that female was a breeding dog by the rules of the exporting country, her HD is A, B or C and she had passed temperament tests with acceptable results). The breeder who will import the pregnant female has to inform immediately the Breeding Committee and send copies of her documents. This litter will be under inspection of the Breeding Committee. If the breeder wants to re-use this female, the dog has to follow all of the breeding rules.
8.1.6. a tenanted female has to follow the Breeding rules of The Estonian St. Bernard Dog Breeding Club, exceptions by art 7

8.2. Males
8.2.1. breeding after the 23rd month.
8.2.2. maximum 40 puppies in EKL register
8.2.3. male who has 40 puppies and is older than 7 years – is suitable to use in breeding by art 7.
8.2.4. a foreign male, who will mate Estonian female, has to have a FCI pedigree, he has to be a breeding dog in his home country, he has to have HD-A, B or C
8.2.5. it is not allowed to use a male dog for getting “black puppies” (puppies with out pedigree)

D. Breeding Control

9. Breeding Tests
9.1. Breeding Control (Körung) is obligation (by art 4). Show results or training results or working dog tests results or obedience test results is not replacing Breeding Control.
9.2. Breeding control rules are made by the Breeding Committee
9.3. Breeding Control (Körung) consists of temperament tests and exterior tests
9.4. Breeding Control expert (Körmeister) has to be accepted by p The Estonian St. Bernard Dog Breeding Club resumption that the Körmeister has a license from his home club to do temperament tests and exterior tests.
9.5. Up to 2013, the Körung will be lead by the regulations and by the Körmeister of St.Bernhard -Klub e.V. (Germany).
9.6. Breeding control cost is by The Estonian St. Bernard Dog Breeding Club

E. Puppies, litter

10. Litter
10.1. Every litter (puppies in the age of 30 days) has to pass the inspection of the Breeding Committee.
10.2. Puppies have to be socialised, in good custody, development and feeding – depending on their age
10.3. Puppies may leave their home after the 7th week with vaccination, vermifuge and a microchip.

F. Information obligations

11. Information obligations by the The Estonian St. Bernard Dog Breeding Club or the Breeding Committee.
11.1. The male’s owner has to inform the Breeding Committee after every mate act (between 7 days)
11.2. The female’s owner has to inform the Breeding Committee after every mate act, birth and abort (during the following 7 days).
11.3. Every dog owner has to inform the Breeding Committee of hereditary diseases (during the following 30 days after the diagnose)
11.4. Every dog owner has to inform the Breeding Committee of death (during the following 30 days).
